YOU DON’T OWN ME: FREEDOM FOR EVERY BODY

Planned Parenthood Winter Political Action Fundraiser, 2023
Morgan Manufacturing, Chicago

In 2023, I was invited to create a painting live during the Planned Parenthood Winter Political Action Fundraiser at Morgan Manufacturing in Chicago. The event was co-chaired by U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin of Illinois.

Over the course of the evening, I created You Don’t Own Me, a figurative mixed-media work exploring autonomy, identity and the right to define oneself.

The experience brought together two important parts of my practice: painting as a live, evolving process and the female figure as a way of exploring strength, vulnerability and self-determination.

You Don’t Own Me later became part of my broader exhibition and print history, including an ARTBOX.PROJECTS commemorative edition connected with New York.
